Hobbies/Leisure Activities: “Music, golf, basketball.”

Early Baseball Memory: “I hit my first home run ever when I was like nine. And I didn’t hit a home run ever again for like eight years later.”

Favorite Movies: “Oh my God, Ace Ventura Pet Detective, Dumb & Dumber, Liar Liar.”

Musical Tastes: “Besides merengue, hip-hop, some classic music, R&B, jazz, I like everything about music.”

Funny Baseball Memory: “Fell asleep in the bullpen. They threw water on me [laughs]. That was in minor league, in Fayetteville (‘91).”

Favorite Meal: “Rice, beans, chicken.”

Favorite Ice Cream Flavor: “Vanilla.”

Pre-Game Feeling: “Sometimes you feel good, sometimes you feel like you’re not in great shape. I always prepare myself real well. I always try to feel pretty good, even when if I don’t feel well. Stay positive all the time.”

First Job: “Singing, 11-years-old. Singing clubs, bars, restaurants.”

First Car: “Red Honda Prelude, 1996. Besides my donkey [laughs]. Bought it in ‘95.”

Greatest Sports Moment: “No-hitter, 1994, versus Pawtucket Red Sox.”

Most Painful Moment: “My surgery – elbow.”

Closest Baseball Friend: “Moises Alou.”

Funniest Player: “Me [smiles].”

Toughest Competitors Encountered: “I would say anybody. They’ve got bats in their hands. If you fall asleep, they can hurt you. I would say anybody in the League. You need to be careful. We’re here for the same stuff. They’re here for the same stuff too. They want to get a hit against me too.”

Favorite Athletes To Watch: “Anybody in baseball. Moises Alou. Mike Tyson. Tiger Woods. And don’t leave out my Chi Chi Rodriguez! Agassi. Serena and Venus Williams.”

People Qualities Most Admired: “A great family role model – who lives with his family, respects his family. A guy who respects human beings. Treats everybody equal, like, even though we play in the Major Leagues, we are the same.”

Childhood Dream: “Be somebody special one day, be a superstar.”

Career Accomplishments: Won 21 games and was All-Star in 1999; 89-102 career MLB record.
