Status: NASCAR driver of the #83 Toyota Camry for Red Bull Racing. Winner of 13 career Sprint Cup races.
Ht: 5-9  Wt: 145
DOB: April 10, 1980  In: Enumclaw, Washington
Racing Inspirations:  ”Jeff Gordon and Dave Blaney.”
Hobbies/Leisure Activities:  ”Baseball, basketball and football. Just going out and watching as many races as I can. Snowmobiling. Grilling in my backyard. Whatever, really, I’m up for doing anything.”
Favorite Movies:  ”I like a lot of western type. Tombstone.”
Favorite TV Shows:  ”Growing up, I always watched Silver Spoons [smiles].”
Musical Tastes:  ”Alternative, country, George Strait would probably be my favorite. Alan Jackson.”
Early Racing Memory:  ”Just how nervous I was the first time I raced. How nervous I was every time my dad’s car raced and I was watching up in the grandstand. I remember I was probably more nervous than anybody watching my dad’s car race [smiles]. My first mini-sprint race I think I finished fourth. I just remember hot laps – it just felt like I had way too much stuff on, way too many restraints and gloves and net collars, seatbelts and helmets. I just felt like I couldn’t move.”
Pre-Race Feeling:  ”I just kinda like to be by myself. To just take it easy and think about what’s going on and what’s gonna happen during throughout the race. Try to play things out and be ready for anything.”
First Job: “First job would have been…milking cows.”
First Car:  ”First car I drove it through high school was my dad’s – was just a flatbed old pick-up that we used at our house.”
Favorite Meal:  ”Chicken and mashed potatoes and gravy.”
Favorite Ice Cream Flavor:  ”Vanilla.”
Favorite Breakfast Cereal:  ”Cocoa Puffs.”
Greatest Sports Moment:  ”My own? Winning the win in Richmond in 2005. Winning six races in 2006. And winning the All-Star Race in Charlotte (2008).”
Most Painful Moment:  ”Flippin’ a sprint car in ‘99 (in Ohio).”
Worst Injury:  ”Just sore. Bruised up and sore. Blew all the blood vessels out in my face. That kind of stuff.”
Closest NASCAR Friends:  ”Jamie McMurray, Dale Jr., Casey Mears.”
Funniest Racers Encountered:  ”Jeremy Mayfield. He’s something else. He’s always got something to laugh about or tell a story or joke about.”
Toughest Competitors Encountered:  ”Rusty Wallace. He was just a hard racer. Just a good racer, hard to pass. Jimmie Johnson. And Kurt Busch.”
Favorite Athletes To Watch:  ”Michael Jordan. Ken Griffey Jr. Donovan McNabb. Michael Vick. Some of those running backs and wide receivers are awesome to watch. Roger Clemens. Gary Payton. Randy Johnson. Kobe Bryant. Wayne Gretzky.”
Embarrassing Career Memory:  ”Yeah, I definitely had some [laughs]. They happen a lot, it’s part of racing. Probably the most embarrassed I was, was my first year, stuck in a car. And I spun getting on to pit road in Texas. And it started raining. And I was stuck in the grass – in the rain – couldn’t move. And the yellow flag was out because I was out there. And they finished the race under yellow
because of it [smiles].”
Favorite Racetracks:  ”I’d say Dover, Atlanta, Darlington are my three favorites. I really like Dover – a mile, high-banked, you can move around on the racetrack. Atlanta and Darlington – your tires fall away and you’re just sliding all over the place. I enjoy racing at those kinds of tracks.”
Strange Fan Encounter:  ”There’s a lot of those. Hmmm. A lot of times when fans pick you out of a group of people. Like you would never expect a fan to see you and they pick you out. At a restaurant or a place you would never expect race fans to be. And it’s some person picks you out and wants you to sign something or say Hi to you. (Like where?) Actually, at the Atlantis in the Bahamas it happened. Pretty big surprise to sit there and play blackjack with somebody and they realize who you are or something like that. (That’s) kind of fun.”
People Qualities Most Admired:  ”Truthful. Nice. Not arrogant.”
