Childhood Heroes:  ”It was mostly football. Walter Payton. I was in love with football.”

Nicknames:  ”Mo, Greene, Nobody Does It Better Than Mo Better [smiles], Greene Machine, Kansas City Cannonball.”

Hobbies/Interests:  ”Play video games, watch a lot of movies, football is a hobby.”

Early Track & Field Memory:  ”In elementary school when I was in fourth grade, we had a meet between the area’s elementary schools. It was only supposed to be fifth-graders. My gym teacher was able to get me to compete in that. And I won first-place blue ribbons in three events – 50 meters, 100 meters and eraser shuttle. I was the only fourth grader in that.”

Pre-Race Feeling:  ”I’m nervous. Thinking about executing. Listening for the starter to hit the gun. And just running the best I could. To be number one you have to train like you’re number two.”

Favorite Movie:  ”Top Gun.”

Musical Tastes:  ”Rap, R&B, DMX, Lauryn Hill.”

First Job:  ”As a janitor cleaning up my old church, Third Street Church Of God (age 16).”

First Car:  ”1995 black GMC Jimmy.”

Funny Track & Field Memory:  ”My funniest memory was when we were in Japan. And Jon Drummond said that he wouldn’t let a Japanese man beat him. And he got beat by a Japanese man! So that was very funny.”

Favorite Meal:  ”I have so many [laughs]. Crab legs.”

Favorite Breakfast Cereal:  ”Oatmeal with raisins.”

Favorite Ice Cream Flavor:  ”Strawberry.”

Greatest Sports Moment:  ”Winning the Olympic gold medal, the finish (2000 in Sydney). It’s unexplainable. You feel so great. It’s something…I wish I could explain it. And setting the world record.”

Most Painful Moment:  ”When I didn’t make the Olympic Team in 1996. Because it was a very hard year for me. I was hurt (hamstring) for most of the year and I felt that I really should’ve been on the team.”

People Qualities Most Admired:  ”People who love to do things. I love working with kids. So when I see people with kids or doing some kind of community work like that, I love that type.”

    This was a good device to live by or train by if your are an active athlete..

    And I still think you should mix them all together in a book, a great gift for any sport interested, a bit of something for everyone, can’t be much better than that!
