Status: Will drive the No. 36 Golden Corral Chevrolet for Tommy Baldwin Racing in the 2013 Daytona 500.

Ht: 5-10 Wt: 165

DOB: October 5, 1976 In: Phoenix, AZ

Racing Inspirations: “Would have been my dad and probably AJ Foyt and Dale Earnhardt Jr.”

Nicknames: “JJ Christian’s my real name so JJ’s Jimmy Jack.”

Hobbies/Interests: “I spend time with my family now. I enjoy trying to play golf. Unfortunately I play golf to remind myself I drive race cars [smiles] That’s why it’s a hobby.”

Favorite Movies: “Wow, I’m gonna go with some of the race movies – Six Pack or Stroker Ace. Pretty big fan of all of ‘em.”

Musical Tastes: “I listen to pretty much anything. I can go from country to rap to alternative, doesn’t really matter.”

Early Racing Memory: “Wow, that’s a long time ago. Probably my first win. I was 16, professional racing. I had to overcome a bunch of adversity during the middle of the race to win the race (in Chico, CA).”

First Job: “Construction (age 15).”

First Car: “1980 Chevy pickup truck. (Color?) It was Corvette yellow with blue flames [smiles].”

Favorite Meal: “Either pizza or Mexican food. Depends on the part of the country. If I’m at home in Phoenix, I’ll have Mexican.”

Favorite Breakfast Cereal: “Fruity Pebbles.”

Favorite Ice Cream Flavor: “Mint chip.”

Pre-Race Feeling: “To me, anymore, this is my life, this is my job, I don’t really think of anything else. So it’s just a matter of focusing on the important parts of the race and making sure that we don’t make any mistakes.”

Greatest Career Moment: “Finishing 9th at Indianapolis 500 (1998).”

Most Painful Moment: “[Laughs] Finishing 9th at Indianapolis 500. I should have finished about 5th instead of 9th but I guess it’s a double-edged sword.”

Embarrassing Racing Memory: “I flipped trying to do a victory burnout in a dirt race in Ohio [smiles].”

Favorite Racetracks: “NASCAR tracks would have to be Phoenix, Chicago and Michigan.”

Closest NASCAR Friends: “Stacy Compton. Tony Stewart. Denny Hamlin. We’re all just one big happy family [smiles].”

Funniest Drivers: “Tony seems to be pretty good. I think Harvick’s pretty good on the sense of humor list. I mean, you have to be, in this sport.”

Toughest Competitors Encountered: “The fiercest…wow…damn, they’re all fierce. I don’t think you can pick just one particular guy out there. They all want to win just as bad as I do.”

Favorite Vacation Spot: “The beach. I like being on the beach.”

People Qualities Most Admired: “I like people that are honest. That’ll shoot you straight up. And sense of humor.”

10th place finish in Daytona for JJ, a very good result for him. He was in the hunt at the end of the race.
