DOB: Dec. 20, 1981, in Odessa, Texas

Football Inspirations: “Herschel Walker, first and foremost. I played running back growing up, so I wanted to be him.”

Hobbies/interests: “Video games. I play video games all night. If I wasn’t playing football, I’d be a video game nerd.” (Roy also plays guitar, saxophone and piano.)

Greatest Sports Moment: “Being drafted” (seventh overall in 2004 by Detroit).

Most Painful Moment: “Being hit by Roy Williams — Texas-OU weekend.”

Funny Football Memory: “I scored one time at Texas, and was running through the end zone and Bevo (the Longhorns’ mascot, a 1,900-pound steer) was sitting down. And Bevo stood up when I was running toward him. So I kinda had to put the brakes on.”

Dream Position: “Corner.”

Favorite Uniforms: “Texas all white, when they wear all white. Best uniform in the nation.”

Nicknames: “Any Time, the one you see — The Flyer, and middle school I was called Devo.”

Hobbies/Interests: “Type of guy, I kinda like stayin’ in, I don’t like going out, I like watching movies, do a little bowling, kinda just playin’ pool and ping pong.”

Favorite Movies: “Bait, Friday, Life and Troy.”

Favorite TV Shows: “Don’t have any.”

Early Football Memory: “My first pee-wee Pop Warner game I was playing linebacker, third play of the game I got a pick and took it to the house. And did the high-step high-step like Deion did [smiles]. It was about 60 yards.”

First Job: “Working at a Boys/Girls Club (age 16).”

First Car: “Expedition (maroon).”

Favorite Breakfast Cereal: “Cocoa Puffs.”

Favorite Ice Cream Flavor: “Cookies and cream.”

Pre-Game Feeling: “Just laid-back. Kinda just listen to some R&B. Just being calm. Not really thinking about the game till I get out there. Just trying to stay calm.”

Greatest Sports Moment: “Being selected in the Hall of Fame. For my (all-time NFL record) return in ‘ 06 (vs. Giants — 108 yards). I got selected for the Hall of Fame and they have my jersey and everything hanging up in the Hall of Fame. And my opening kickoff return (for a TD) in the Super Bowl.”

Most Painful Moment: “I don’t know. That’s a hard one…maybe losing in the Super Bowl (vs. Indianapolis).”

Favorite Uniforms: “I would say Seattle.”

Dream Position: “Cornerback.”

Funny Football Memory: “Against the Jets. On a punt return, they kicked it in the end zone so I tried to block a guy before he could down it on the one or two and he just totally knocked me down. And he laughed at me. It was so funny just runnin’ off the field just thinkin’ about it. I was just sayin’, I hope they didn’t get that on TV [smiles].”

Funniest Players Encountered: “Lance Briggs and Olin Kreutz.”

Last Book Read: “‘Battlefield Mind’ by Joyce Meyer.”

Favorite TV Show: “Heroes.”

Musical Tastes: “Rap and R&B – anything by Jadakiss, Lil Wayne, T.I, and T Pain.”

First Football Memory: “My first interception – in seventh grade.”

First Job: “Loading and unloading 18-wheel trucks at Fed Ex…it showed me that I needed to step my game up in football [smiles].”

First Car: “Ford Explorer.”

Current Car(s): “Range Rover, 74 Impala, Ferrari 360 Modena, and Bentley Continental.”

Pre-Game Feeling: “Go outside and warm up and then sit in the locker room and crack jokes with Bryan Thomas. I believe that you have to be loose before games because although it’s serious business, in the end football is just a game.”

Favorite Meal: “Sushi from Nobu 57.”

Favorite Ice Cream Flavor: “I can’t eat ice cream, it doesn’t agree with my stomach.”

Favorite Web Sites: “NFL.com of course, and anything that has to do with exclusive sneakers. My shoe game is sick.”

Childhood Dreams: “I’m living my dream by playing in the NFL.”

Greatest Sports Moment: “Signing with the New York Jets (March 2008).”

Most Painful Moment: “Being de-activated my second year in the NFL (with Arizona in 2004). It killed me for someone to tell me that I was doing so poorly that I couldn’t even put on a uniform. I used it as motivation to go back to practice and work harder to get better and become more complete player.”

Dream Position: “To play free safety. I think I would be in the Sean Taylor / Ed Reed mold.”

Closest Jet Friends: “Everybody…we are a very close-knit team.”

Funniest Jet(s): “Brad Kassel.”

Toughest Competitors Encountered: “Walter Jones of the Seattle Seahawks. (What is it about him?) He is the most athletic and physical offensive tackle in football, bar none!”

Funny Football Memory: “Earlier in the season I was returning a fumble recovery. I’ve always thought that I was fast and super athletic, but when I got the ball I felt like I was running with a refrigerator on my back. And when I finally scored I was on the brink of passing out because I was so tired [smiles].”

Embarrassing Football Memory: “None, yet.”

Last Vacation: “Turks and Caicos.”

Favorite Athletes To Watch: “Kyle Vanden Bosch, Floyd Mayweather Jr., Michael Vick, Jared Allen, DeMarcus Ware, Terrell Owens, Anquan Boldin, Adrian Wilson.”

Most Memorable Touchdown You Ever Scored: “Returning fumble last year against St. Louis Rams.”

People Qualities Most Admired: “I respect hard-working people that are humble and positive about life no matter what happens to them.”
