Status: Winner of eight world boxing titles in three different weight classes.

Record: 51-5-1 (37).

Ht: 5-5 Wt: 140

DOB: August 23, 1973 In: Mexico City, Mexico

Early Boxing Memory: Lost my first fight to Javier Duran by disqualification, ‘93 May. They stole the fight from me, I got ripped off. That’s one of the first things that really hurt and it motivated me to never lose again.

Favorite Movie: Dead Poets Society.

Hobbies/Leisure Activities: Everything – basketball, baseball, futbol, play pool. I play everything. I play X-Box with my son – FIFA soccer.”

Last Book Read: Gabriel Garcia Marquez. I don’t remember the title.

Boxing Inspirations: Many of them, many. Julio Cesar Chavez obviously. That’s the one I was able to watch, growing up and watching his fights.

First Job: For the government in Mexico.

First Car: VW Bug.

Current Car: I have like five cars!

Favorite Meal: Food – everything – tortillas, everything.

Typical Breakfast: I take many juices, quail eggs.

Favorite Ice Cream Flavor: Cookie dough.

Greatest Sports Moment: My title fight. My title fights – becoming a world champion in three different weight classes.

Most Painful Moment: When I was stripped of my titles back when I was having problem with Bob Arum and I got stripped of my title. It was a lot of hard work that I put in to win those titles and I just got stripped. That was very sad for me.

Funny Boxing Memory: Nothing funny about boxing. Boxing is always serious. Nothing comical or funny about boxing.

Embarrassing Boxing Memory: Nothing, never.

Toughest Part Of Being A Successful Boxer: It’s not tough, it’s easy actually. I just have to know how to manage myself with people. Every fight for me now, from this point of my career is a tough fight. And I have that in my head and I try to be a normal person.

What Would You Be If You Weren’t A Boxer: “Working. I used to like studying a lot.

Last Vacation: I haven’t really had a real vacation. I took four days off and I took my family to Cancun. But it’s very difficult because my kids are going to school. And our schedules cross but I haven’t really had a reall vacation but I was able to take my family to Cancun for four days.

First Boxing Memory: I started boxing when I was eight. Me and my brother Rafael started boxing in amateur tournaments when I was 13.. My father was an ex-pro boxer.

Best Boxer In The Sport Today: I really can’t say. There’s so many great fighters. There’s good fighters, great fighters, but it’s up to the fans to say.

Training Routine: Wake up at 4 a.m. to run. Run 45 minutes to an hour. I come back home for breakfast. Rest. At noon I get to the gym to do my boxing workout. Three hours there. Rest. Once in a while I get a massage, because I need it once in while.

Which Fight Did You Feel Your Very Best: I felt good in all my fights. It’s all in the preparation. I prepare myself for all of them. And I felt good in all my fights.
